KB5043080 Windows 11 24H2 [Manueller Download] 26100.1742 Security Update September

It is the second Tuesday of the month and therefore the day for Microsoft’s security update for Windows. With KB 5043080, Windows 11 24H2 gets the September security update. The version number thus increases to Windows 11 24H2 26100.1742.

This update also includes the changes and improvements from the optional update KB5041865, if nothing has happened yet. There were a number of new functions. This also includes the option to uninstall Recall.

After we reported on it, Brandon LeBlanc described it as an “incorrect entry”. But since the option to uninstall Recall is also available in the Dev and Canary Insider, it is safe to assume that anyone outside the EU should not see this entry. Let’s wait and see. We still have the option of deactivating it. Back to today’s security update.

• [Windows Installer] When an application is repaired, User Account Control (UAC) does not ask for your credentials. After installing this update, User Account Control will ask for them. Because of this, you must update your automation scripts. Application owners must add the shield icon. It indicates that the process requires full administrator access. To disable the UAC prompt, set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer\DisableLUAInRepair registry value to 1.
