KSC – Schalke, 5th matchday.

A quick addendum or transition to my last STT against Braunschweig. There I mentioned the frigate Braunschweig, which played the Imperial March. Well, the Empire lost one of its most important men this week, rest in peace James Earl Jones!

While the international break is not quite over yet (DE plays against the Netherlands tonight), we are already turning our attention to the coming weekend and the 5th matchday of the 2nd division.
Things couldn’t have gone better for KSC this season. After 4 games we are in second place in the table, undefeated and with 3 wins (8:5 goals). On Friday we welcome FC Schalke 04 from Gelsenkirchen. The Royal Blues have started the season with just one win, 1 draw and 2 losses (9:9 goals).

The party doesn’t promise to be boring due to the goal differences.

Karel Geraerts, who played his first game as Schalke coach against us, is still sitting on the Knappen’s bench, but his chair seems to be a little shaky at the moment. At any rate, Schalke seems to be a little nervous. Rumors of arguments at training are doing the rounds, as is Ben Manga’s statement that KSC doesn’t have 4-5 top players unlike Royal Blue.

With Karaman and Sylla, Schalke currently has 2 of the top 5 goalscorers in its ranks, although Sylla appears to be injured. We at least have Budu, who has the same number as Karaman with 4 goals. Similar to us, Schalke has also made major changes to its team with 16 departures, including breakthrough player Ouédraogo (transfer to Leipzig) and 2nd division striker legend Terodde (retirement) – the squad simply had to be cheaper – compared to 25, many of whom come from the U19s and will probably just train with them or play for Schalke II for now. Among the new arrivals are some well-known players such as the aforementioned Sylla, ex-Bayern goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, Anton Donkor from Braunschweig, Christopher Antwi-Adjei from Bochum. I also find Emil Hojlund, the brother of Rasmus Hojlund (ManUtd), and Mauro Zalazar, the brother of Rodrigo Zalazar, interesting. Last but not least, we should mention Amin Younes, who was once considered a promising German talent, but who has been moving from club to club for several years and whose career continues to go downhill.

Setup tip:

White
Jung – Beifus – Franke – Herold
Burnic – Rap
Egloff – Wanni
Budu-Hunziker

As a result, I predict a hard-fought 2:1 or 3:2 for us.

We wish all Schalke fans a safe journey to the Wildpark and lots of fun with us.
