Two Upshur men charged with attempted murder | News, Sports, Jobs

BUCKHANNON – Two different men were charged with attempted murder in two separate criminal cases in Upshur County on Monday.

On Monday, an Upshur County grand jury filed separate attempted murder indictments against Greg Robert Tenney, 23, of Rock Cave, and Gabriel Santiago Siachia-Mesa of Buckhannon.

Tenney was also charged with willful injury and attempted willful injury (both felonies), as well as obstructing an officer, failure to render aid to an injured person, driving while impaired, reckless driving and criminal damage to property (all misdemeanors).

In May, Tenney was allegedly driving a vehicle that struck another vehicle carrying his girlfriend and another person. The car, struck from behind, overturned and landed on its roof, according to the criminal complaint.

Tenney is said to have admitted to police that he followed the first vehicle and drove into it, for the reason “He wanted his phone back,” says the complaint.

In addition to attempted murder, Siachia-Mesa was also charged with intentional bodily harm.

In May, Siachia-Mesa allegedly stabbed a man once in the chest and twice in the back while the man was eating a cheeseburger, the indictment says. After the stabbing attack, Siachia-Mesa reportedly threatened a witness and then fled the scene, a home in Buckhannon.

Siachia-Mesa told police he stabbed the alleged victim with a kitchen knife after the two got into a verbal argument. Siachia-Mesa said he and the alleged victim had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before the incident. He told police he then went to “Mountains” after the knife attack because “He didn’t know the area and needed to rest,” says the complaint.
