NDSU linebacker dismissed from team after arrest for shooting

FARGO (KVRR) – The North Dakota State University football program announced Monday that sophomore linebacker Jaiden Pickett has been dismissed from the team.

Previously, Pickett was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and terrorizing following a shooting early Sunday morning.

The shooting occurred at 12:55 a.m. in the 1200 block of 11th Street North. According to police, an argument broke out outside a house party.

A shot was fired into the house. No one was injured.

Here is a joint statement from NDSU athletic director Matt Larsen and head coach Tim Polasek on the decision to fire Pickett:

“Being a student-athlete at NDSU is a privilege that comes with the expectation to positively represent the team and university while being a responsible member of our community. After learning the facts surrounding Jaiden’s arrest, we have concluded that he violated our Student-Athlete Code of Conduct and will no longer be a member of the Bison football program. We appreciate the work of the Fargo Police Department in this matter.”
