Cook explains that today will see the first iPhones on display that were designed “from the ground up” for Apple Intelligence.

Apple Watch

First up is the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 10

Apple achieves this primarily through a new glass that extends further to the edges.

The new premium material will replace titanium and stainless steel, making it lighter.

At the same time, the metal bracelets were upgraded to titanium.

A18, a new chip “especially for iPhone 16”. Can of course do Apple Intelligence.

A18 is even said to be able to compete with desktop processors while consuming less power than its predecessor.

Basically, there is a summary of the long presentation at WWDC in June. With on-device services, private cloud compute and ChatGPT (on request and only on request).

Writing tools: Give the iPhone a few bullet points and let AI write a detailed email.

You can search for photos by vaguely describing what was in them.

Apple Intelligence will be a free update – for supported devices – and will initially be available as a beta in the “next month” (i.e. not until iOS 18.1) and only in US English. Other languages ​​will follow over time.

“Visual Intelligence”: Take a photo of an object and AI automatically searches for further information, such as opening hours of a restaurant. Controlled with the camera button on the iPhone 16. Of course with Apple’s data protection promises. But it won’t be available until “later this year”.

The camera controls are touch-sensitive but flush with the body. You feel haptic feedback like on the trackpad. This lets you click for real, or just a little – like on a real camera (where half-pressing triggers focus multiple times).

iPhone 16 Pro

Larger screens: 6.3 and 6.9 inches – the largest iPhone screens ever.

Inside is aluminum to improve cooling (it’s fast like the iPhone 15 Pro had heat issues while gaming).

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to have the best battery performance ever – says Joz.

The A18 Pro chip is used as the processor. Even faster than the A18. 16-kernel neural engine, 35 TOPS.

Six-core GPU, 20 percent faster than the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro.

Overall, the CPU is said to be 15 percent faster than the A17 Pro and require 20 percent less power.

New media features for video recording, as well as faster transfer speeds via USB 3.

Cameras: 48 MP Fusion Camera, 48 MP Ultra Wide Camera, 12 MP 5x Zoom, also on iPhone 16 Pro (not just Pro Max).
