Caleb Williams had a rocky start to the NFL season. The Bears’ special team shines with a touchdown, while the offense still has problems.

The highly anticipated NFL debut of Caleb Williams, the number one pick of the Chicago Bears, was initially unspectacular. In the first two quarters of the season opener against the Tennessee Titans, Williams was hardly in the spotlight.

A ray of hope from the Special Team

The turning point came from the Bears’ special teams, who scored the first touchdown of the season. Defensive end Daniel Hardy blocked a punt attempt by the Titans, which was taken over by safety Jonathan Owens and returned 18 yards into the end zone. Owens, the husband of Olympic champion Simone Biles, made it 17-10 with 9:04 minutes left in the third quarter.

Offensive difficulties

The Bears’ offense had previously struggled to get into the game. After an unsuccessful attempt to score a touchdown shortly before halftime, kicker Cairo Santos secured the only points of the first half for Chicago with a 24-yard field goal. Williams and his offense struggled to move the ball decisively.

While the Bears’ special teams shone, it remains to be seen how Williams and the offense will develop in the coming games. Expectations for the top pick are high, and fans are hoping for success soon.
