Insider tips for hiking with children: Children’s hiking trails in the Rohrbach district

Mom, how far is it? If you’re tired of hearing this question, we can recommend hiking trails suitable for children. There are a few options in the Rohrbach district.

DISTRICT. There are three themed trails to explore starting from the guesthouse for survival in the Bohemian Forest: the piste trail, the path of stones and the logging circuit are well marked. There are three special attractions in the Rohrbach district especially for children: the squirrel trail in the Bohemian Forest, the WaterWonderWorld trail in Aigen-Schlägl or the Rohrbach puzzle trail, which is all about butterflies. The Bärnstein is also always worth a walk and if you just want a stroll, you can take a walk along the barefoot trail in St. Ulrich.

Our recommendation: Pack enough spare clothes: At the playground of the guest house for survival there is a mud kitchen and many water play opportunities.

Ski trail on Hochficht
Location: Klaffer at Hochficht
Departure: at the guesthouse Survival

Conclusion: Relatively steep climb, but easy to walk on a dirt road. For children who don’t like hiking, it requires a lot of motivation.
Our recommendation: The Stinglfelsen is a true natural spectacle of colors, just before sunset. But be careful with small children: the way back in the dark is not easy.

Logging tour at Hochficht
Location: Klaffer at Hochficht
Departure: at the guesthouse Survival
Description: This 7.5 kilometer long trail takes you to interesting places like the Arena, the Event House and the Survival Inn. The trail runs through the forest along a forest path and offers a varied hiking experience. Green signposts with trees on top show the direction.
Conclusion: More suitable for older children/teenagers. Small children have little motivation on the trail.
Our recommendation:

Peilstein

Our recommendation: Have breakfast on the Bärenstein. Go up at dawn and experience the wonderful sunrise over the Moldau reservoir.

Bavarian Au Nature Trail
Location: Aigen-Schlägl

At the end of the footbridge there is a platform with a view of the Moldau Reservoir in the Czech Republic and rest areas. This view of the Moldau Reservoir is particularly inviting.
Conclusion: Pure nature in the Bohemian Forest. The nature trail in the Bayrische Au raised moor area also contains a lot of interesting information.
Our recommendation: The way back via the moor hiking trail is exciting, otherwise you have to walk back the same way.

Barefoot path

Our recommendation: The power of the trees has a positive effect on the body, mind and soul. The path is not physically demanding.

Haslach circular route
Location: Haslach
Departure: Catfish puree
Description: On this 4.9-kilometer hike, you can discover Haslach from all sides. Haslach is located on a mountain and is close to the forest and water. The town also has eight bridges that lead over the Große Mühl.
Conclusion: The panoramic view of Haslach is fine, and there are many places to stop for a bite to eat in the market itself.
Our recommendation: This path is also suitable for strollers and there is a playground in Welset Pühret.

Forest nature trail
Location:
Aigen-Schlägl
Departure: at the fire station Aigen

A special highlight is the water wheel along the trail and the Michaelsquelle with Kneipp station. At the end of the forest nature trail, you can take a rest at the edge of the forest and enjoy a wonderful view over Aigen-Schlägl.
Conclusion: If you read the 15 display boards carefully and answer the online quiz questions, don’t forget to enjoy the starch on the edge of the forest with a panoramic view.
Our recommendation: On the website of the municipality of Aigen-Schlägl there are special forest games that are exciting to play on the go and can be downloaded.
