There were several serious crashes at the Cyclassics in Hamburg during the amateur cycling race. The 100-kilometer race had to be stopped in the Pinneberg district, police said. The field was stopped. In addition to ambulances, rescue helicopters are also in use.

According to a Cyclassics spokeswoman, at least six cyclists were injured in two crashes. All of those affected are conscious. The amateur race is to be completed in a neutralized manner – without timekeeping.

The World Tour professional race was also affected by the accident. The start, which was scheduled for 11:15 a.m., was postponed to 12:00 p.m., according to the spokeswoman. The professional race was therefore shortened by 21 kilometers.
