My district tips: These are the most beautiful photo hotspots in Vienna

VIENNA. A long, long time ago, the writer Karl Kraus said: “The streets of Vienna are paved with culture. The streets of other cities are paved with asphalt.” Every season has its own magic in the Austrian metropolis. This is also the case in summer, when the sun makes the historic buildings and parks shine.

If you want to take beautiful photos in Vienna, are looking for a shooting location or are new in the city and want to get to know the most beautiful landmarks, then you have come to the right place. MeinBezirk lists some of the best places for beautiful snapshots. It is a colorful mix of historical sights, parks, gardens, modern architecture, viewpoints, river banks, bridges, markets and hidden gems.

Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces

When you think of Vienna, you also think of the Schönbrunn and Belvedere palaces, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg and the Prater. Schönbrunn Castle is one of the most important cultural and historical sites in Europe. As a former summer residence of the Habsburgs, it was built in its current form in the 18th century. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

The highlights of the castle itself are the Large Gallerythe Hall of Mirrors and the private chambers of the imperial family. Outside you can take beautiful photos of the Gloriettea hill from which you have a wonderful view of the castle and the city, at Neptune Fountain and in Crown Prince Garden make.

Belvedere Palace.

Another architectural masterpiece is the Belvedere Palace. It consists of two baroque palaces and was also built in the 18th century. The Belvedere garden art, which dates back to the Baroque period, can be enjoyed in the terraced gardens, the Alpine Garden and the Botanical Garden. About the St. Stephen’s Cathedraldie Hofburg and the Prater With its Ferris wheel you don’t need to say much – just come by, you can take some great photos here.

Vienna City Park

But not only the parks at Schönbrunn and Belvedere are worth a visit. Vienna City Park is one of the most famous and popular gardens in the metropolis. The almost 65,000 square meter area was opened in 1862. You can take great Insta photos here at the Johann Strauss monument, the Kursalon Hübner, the ponds and bridges, and the Franz Schubert monument.

Brunch and cafeteria with a view

Beautiful views can be enjoyed in many places in Vienna. One should not forget the entire Kahlenberg as a viewpoint over the city. Also worth a visit is the Main Library at Urban-Loritz-Platz 2 (7th district) with the Café “Upstairs”where you can also have brunch.

And now comes something that not only students know: In New institute building – NIG for short – in the inner-city Universitätsstraße 7 there is a cafeteria with a small terrace, but a great view. Hot tips for beautiful views are also the Jubilee lookout in Ottakring (Johann-Staud-Straße 80), the restaurant “Sky” in the Hotel “Royal” in Singerstraße 3 on the 10th floor and the “Justice Café” at Schmerlingplatz 10 – both in the 1st district.

Hundertwasserhaus and Viennese markets

An exceptional residential building where you can take great pictures is the area around the Hundertwasser HouseThe building was built between 1983 and 1985 at Kegelgasse 34–38, and the architecture was designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It is an unconventional design with green elements, mosaics and ceramics.

Vienna is also known for its magnificent and beautiful markets. They are not only an ideal place for shopping and consumption, but also for taking beautiful snapshots. For example, the 1.5 kilometer long Naschmarkt between Karlsplatz and Kettenbrückengasse with an abundance of fresh products, spices, exotic fruits and seafood. The Ottakringer Fountain Marketthe longest street market in Europe, as well as the Carmelite Market in Leopoldstadt are recommended.

Chilling on the Danube

Idyllic photos and videos can also be taken at Kaiserwasser near the Donaupark (also recommended) and Donau City. It is a popular recreational area in Vienna. Here you can also swim, sunbathe or do sports – or just chill out.

Wotruba Church in Liesing

In the 23rd district is one of the most beautiful and interesting architectural landmarks of the city: the Wotruba Church. It is located in the Mauer district and was built according to the designs of the sculptor Fritz Wotruba. It consists of 152 irregularly arranged concrete blocks, which are arranged in such a way that they create a complex and dynamic play of light and shadow.
