Eisbären celebrate victory in the Champions Hockey League

The Eisbären Berlin have achieved their first success in this season of the Champions Hockey League (CHL). Coach Serge Aubin’s team won comfortably against Polish champions Unia Oswiecim with 4:1 (1:1, 1:0, 2:0). Blaine Byron, Lean Bergmann, Marcel Noebels and Jonas Müller scored the goals for the Berliners.

Two days after the 1:3 defeat at the Växjö Lakers in Sweden, the Berliners dominated the puck from the start in the sold-out arena in Poland and took the lead in the 12th minute with Byron’s goal. However, the Polish CHL debutant took advantage of a power play and equalized in the 19th minute with a goal from Hampus Olsson.

In the middle period, Bergmann scored in the 23rd minute to make it 2-1. Despite good chances, the Eisbären were initially unable to build up their lead. However, thanks to goals from Noebels in the 48th minute and Müller in the 57th minute, the Berliners secured the win in the final third.

The next duel in the CHL for the Berliners is in their home arena against the Czech representative Dynamo Pardubice next Friday (7.30 p.m./ MagentaSport). In the DEL season, the defending champions started a week later on September 20 with an away game against the Kölner Haie.
