Reported sexual assault triggers Swindon Police investigation

On Saturday, September 7, officers cordoned off the Queen Street alleyway between Fleet Street and Carr Street.

The narrow space between the Audio-T store and the Jack Spice restaurant was cordoned off with police tape to prevent public access.

Four officers remained on scene for most of the morning and were heard telling curious members of the public that there was “no major threat to be concerned about.”

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Officers investigating an alleged sexual assault have cordoned off an area of ​​Swindon town centre between Fleet Street and Carr Street.”

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of September 7 and may have seen anything suspicious.

“If you were there or have any other useful information, please call us on 101 and quote log 62 of today’s date (09/07).

“Alternatively, you can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
