Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: News, rumors and everything we know so far

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will likely be Samsung’s last major smartphone launch in 2024 – although we could see the Samsung Galaxy S25 in early 2025.

Due to its timing – just before the Galaxy S25 – the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE could be difficult to sell. However, how attractive it is could depend mainly on the price.

Unfortunately, we don’t know the price yet, but thanks to leaks and rumors, we have a very good idea of the specifications of the upcoming phone and they paint the picture of a capable alternative to the standard Samsung Galaxy S24.

Below you’ll find everything we’ve heard so far about the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, including the likely screen, chipset, cameras, and release date.

There is some disagreement about when the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will launch. The latest leak at the time of writing suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will launch in October. This is in line with a few other claims: an earlier leak said the Galaxy S24 FE would launch in October or later, and another said the Galaxy S24 FE should be expected in late 2024 or early 2025.

On the other hand, a report from South Korea claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE would launch this “summer,” which for South Korea would mean sometime between June and August.

At the time of writing, we are in August, so the window of opportunity is almost closed, but there are other clues pointing to an imminent launch. For example, an online database entry for the Galaxy S24 FE has been found, as has a test version of the Galaxy S24 FE firmware.

Perhaps most tellingly, a support page for the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE has actually been spotted on an official Samsung website. These are all things we would expect to see closer to launch.

However, we currently expect the Galaxy S24 FE to launch in October, as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 have been launched recently, allowing Samsung to space out its launches better. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launched in October last year.

We’re even less sure about the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE’s price, as no details have leaked yet. But for reference, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE started at $599.99 / £599 / AU$899, so it’s likely you’ll have to pay at least that much.

Probably a similar design to the S23 FE
Could have a large 6.7-inch screen

Thanks to leaked marketing renders shared by Android Headlines, we have a good idea of what the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE could look like. These – some of which you can see below – show a phone that looks a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, complete with a triple-lens camera running vertically across the back and a punch-hole camera in the phone’s flat display.

It also reportedly features an aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the screen, and Android Headlines claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available in Graphite, Blue, Silver/White, Green and Yellow, along with, we believe, two other unknown shades that will be exclusive to Samsung’s online store.

Another source has mentioned similar colors and said that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available in black, gray, light blue, light green and yellow.

We’ve also seen unofficial renders of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE from another source (one of which you can see below) that show a very similar design, so this is probably what you can expect.

As for the screen, the latter source mentions a 6.65-inch display, while the source of the marketing renders above similarly says that the Galaxy S24 FE has a 6.7-inch screen – one with a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has a 6.4-inch screen with a peak brightness of 1,450 nits.

Oddly enough, however, several previous leaks suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE would have a 6.1-inch screen instead. However, since these leaks are a bit less numerous and less detailed, we tend to believe the 6.7-inch rumors.

One of the 6.1-inch sources added that the Galaxy S24 FE will have an AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and at least that’s likely since the Galaxy S23 FE has those specs.

Could have a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8MP telephoto camera

A detailed leak on the Galaxy S24 FE’s specifications suggests a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, along with a 10MP selfie camera. The source of this leak also claims that the Galaxy S24 FE will use “AI Zoom” to capture clear shots from a long distance.

We’ve also heard that the Galaxy S24 FE has a 50MP main sensor, and another leak provides more details: it says that the Galaxy S24 FE has the same main camera as the S23 FE – specifically, a 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor with 1.0μm pixels. The other leaked camera specs also match those of the Galaxy S23 FE, by the way, so we might not see many upgrades here.

The battery could have 4,565 mAh

In terms of performance, it’s likely that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will feature an Exynos 2400e chipset, which is reportedly a slightly less powerful version of the Exynos 2400 used in some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S24, and in fact, a benchmark spotted by MySmartPrice suggests there’s slightly less power here.

Nevertheless, the Exynos 2400e is still said to be more powerful and energy efficient than the Exynos 2200 used in the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.

Interestingly, a previous leak suggested that in some regions, the Galaxy S24 FE could get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset instead, which would be slightly more powerful than an Exynos 2400e. We’ve heard this claim more than once, so in some parts of the world, you might get lucky and get a Snapdragon chipset in the Galaxy S24 FE.

As for RAM, the benchmark above indicated 8GB, which is what you get in the Galaxy S23 FE. However, several sources have said that the Galaxy S24 FE could actually have a maximum of 12GB of RAM, so there could be both 8GB and 12GB models of the S24 FE.

As for storage, we have heard that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available in both 128GB and 256GB storage capacities. These Galaxy S24 FE storage capacities have been mentioned several times and would be the same ones currently offered for the Galaxy S23 FE.

As for the battery, the most detailed battery leak of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to date suggests a 4,565 mAh battery that can last up to 29 hours of video playback or 78 hours of music listening.

We tend to believe these claims, but it’s worth noting that some previous Galaxy S24 FE battery leaks suggested that Samsung’s next FE will have a slightly smaller 4,500mAh battery.

Finally, we have heard that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE could come with various AI features like other high-end Samsung phones.
