“The intern has never used a printer before”

“The intern has never used a printer before”

But you also report that one morning an intern told you very honestly that she had no motivation at all and had stayed in bed. Where do you set limits then? After all, you are running a company.
I appreciate honesty there too. We all wake up sometimes and think: it would be nice to be on the beach right now. I then try to find out why the person doesn’t feel like it. Is it the tasks? Does the person need support? First of all, I reflect that it’s OK to feel that way – but I also appeal to the team spirit and try to get the person on board. As long as it doesn’t happen every day, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I’ve never experienced a person then continuing to say they don’t feel like it. I can therefore advise older managers to approach Generation Z. If you’re reserved as a manager, you’ll never be able to honestly tell a 20-year-old how you’re feeling. I’m also very honest about how I’m feeling and when I find the work difficult. The aim is to create motivation for the tasks and not for the work.
