The Fursty Razorbacks are facing their last game of the season: With a win in Regensburg and some help from the opposition, they would end up in fourth place.

Fürstenfeldbruck – fourth, fifth or sixth place? The Fursty Razorbacks will get the answer to this question on Saturday when they play against the Regensburg Phoenix from 4 p.m. There hasn’t been a relegation to the regional league so far. But the Brucker TuS footballers want to end the difficult season on a positive note.

Those in charge at the Razorbacks do not deny their team commitment and passion – you can read about it on the Bruck Facebook channel. That’s why head coach Lukas Schmid’s team will be only too happy to reward themselves with a third win of the season. Once again, the decisive factor will be whether they have enough strength. One of Bruck’s biggest problems this year has proven to be the depth of the squad.

Personal problems run through the Razorbacks’ season

The Razorbacks were thin on players in many positions. When an injury or vacation occurred – as in the 0:3 loss against Montabaur – things quickly became tight. The fact that Bruck fielded a second team was only of limited help. Schmid was able to fill his squad spots. But against Montabaur in particular it became clear that the players from the second team lacked a few ounces of performance ability to put the Razorbacks on a par with the top teams in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The results of the seven defeats so far, which were mostly close, show that this is not much. The only time the Razorbacks had no chance was in Pforzheim, where they lost 15:44. The defeat in the first leg against Regensburg was also limited, at 9:17 – a result that Bruck would like to take revenge for. If Albershausen also helps out against Gießen, fourth place would be perfect for Bruck. (Andreas Daschner)
