Flensburg starts the new season of the Handball Bundesliga with a landslide victory. The most successful thrower for the North Germans is an Olympic champion.

The three-time German handball champions SG Flensburg-Handewitt started the Bundesliga season with an easy home win. Coach Nicolej Krickau’s team defeated HC Erlangen comfortably with 42:28 (22:12), with the North Germans’ most successful scorer being Danish Olympic champion Emil Jakobsen with eleven goals.

In the second game of the evening, Frisch Auf Göppingen and HSV Hamburg drew 25:25 (13:10).

Flensburg’s northern rival and record champion THW Kiel suffered a 27:32 defeat at Rhein-Neckar Löwen on Thursday evening when national goalkeeper Andreas Wolff returned. Defending champion SC Magdeburg and Supercup winner Füchse Berlin will enter the league on Saturday.
