And thanks to Berlin-based illustrator Flix, an adventure of the jungle dweller invented in Belgium is now taking place on the Spree. In his album “The Humboldt Animal,” Flix tells the story of what happened when the mythical creature appeared one day in the Natural History Museum and befriended a girl from Berlin.

This Sunday (8 September) the artist will present his entertaining story at Children’s Comic Day in Prenzlauer Berg. At 10 a.m. it opens in the rooms of the comic book store “Modern Graphics” and the venue “Dock 11” at Kastanienallee 79 a series of comic readings.

During the course of the day, other colleagues will follow, showing excerpts from their works on the screen and reading out scenes, including Patrick Wirbeleit (“Kiste”), Aisha Franz (“Drei aus der Zukunft”) and Anke Kuhl (“Manno”), who in the afternoon, together with illustrator Mawil, also presented the children’s magazine “Polle”, the current cover of which we show here as an illustration of this article.

There will also be several drawing, screen printing and make-up workshops. And at 5 p.m. the Miniature Orchestra will be giving a concert in the park. It will consist partly of cartoonists and used toy instruments for its cheerful summer music – great fun for young and old. Entry is free, all information on kindercomictag.de.
