Good news for fans of God of War? A new, previously secret project from Santa Monica Studio seems to be on the horizon. Initial indications point to an exciting expansion in the universe of the popular game series.

Small project, big anticipation? What is behind the mysterious hints?

According to recent reports, the Santa Monica Studio is working on a “small but special project” that should make fans’ hearts beat faster. This was confirmed by Sarah Carlos, a PlayStation Playmaker – part of an official Sony influencer program. During her visit to Santa Monica, she was able to take an exclusive look at the secret project. She raved on social media about the “best day of her life” and hinted that God of War fans in particular can look forward to the upcoming project. But what exactly did we expect?

Details are still scarce, of course. But Carlos at least dropped a small hint – in the form of three emojis that refer to the PlayStation and posing in front of a God of War statue. What that means remains speculation, of course. But there are already initial suspicions that it could be an AA project, i.e. a Smaller but still high-caliber game in the God of War universePerhaps we will see Atreus, Kratos’ son, in a new adventure – a perfect companion to the suspected launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro, which could be revealed soon. A possible design and possible technical details about the console are already circulating.

With the release of Astro Bot and no major announcement for late 2024, Sony could take the opportunity to further build the God of War franchise. One thing is certain: the Nordic saga is far from over.
