On «Cycling Sunday» on car-free roads through the Kinzig Valley

On Sunday, many streets in the Kinzig Valley belong to cyclists and skaters alone. For the “Kinzig Valley total” campaign day, important country roads along the approximately 80-kilometer route from the source of the river in Sinntal-Sterbfritz to the mouth in Hanau (both in the Main-Kinzig district) will be closed to car traffic.

Deutsche Bahn offers special trains for people who have to travel further, even outside the Main-Kinzig district. During the day, it is possible to commute between Maintal and Sinntal, with stops at numerous stations along the route. In addition, regular trains also run in the Kinzigtal. Experience has shown that the trains get quite full.

Cyclists and skaters can ride the entire route, but can also put together individual stages according to their personal taste or fitness level. Along the route, many towns and communities offer a varied supporting program with musical entertainment, refreshments, bouncy castles, obstacle courses and other activities. In Hanau, the town festival is also celebrated on this day not far from the Kinzig spring. In some places, there are breakdown services for cyclists who have a flat tire or other problems with their bikes.
