Nintendo Switch 2: Rumors indicate announcement soon, start of production and backwards compatibility

Leaker Nate the Hate, who has often revealed correct information in advance in the past, contradicts earlier rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 is backwards compatible. This means that games that were originally developed for the Nintendo Switch can also be played on the new console and should achieve better performance thanks to the faster hardware.

The rumors about the equipment go back several months. Nintendo is said to be giving the next generation hybrid console a larger 8-inch display based on an IPS panel as well as a new Tegra T239 ARM chip that has eight Cortex-A78E performance cores and an Nvidia Ampere GPU with a nominal output of 2 TFLOPs, which would make the GPU performance about five times higher than the previous model. With DLSS 2 and at least 8 GB of RAM, the console is said to be much better equipped for current games.
