YouTube: New family center launches – brings more opportunities for teenagers and controls for parents

Google’s video platform YouTube has been offering its own children’s platform for a long time and is well positioned as part of Family Link. Now they want to go a step further and have announced the launch of a new YouTube Family Center Announced that could be of interest to parents and children/teenagers alike. The children should be given more freedom and the parents even more control.

YouTube has announced the launch of a new Family Center announced. Existing YouTube Kids profiles can be integrated into this and thus accompany the switch to the large platform. The children or teenagers will then have the opportunity to upload their own videos to YouTube, write comments, give likes or even start live streams. Parents can collect all of these things or be informed when a live stream is started or a video is uploaded.

Children can be invited to participate via QR code and retain control over it from the very beginning. According to Google, the new portal was developed in collaboration with experts to protect children’s privacy as much as possible while still offering a certain level of protection from the platform and also offering parents reassuring, but not too in-depth, control options.

Initially, the Family Center will only be available in the smartphone apps, and the linking of accounts will only be activated in the next few days. Check your YouTube app from time to time to see if you can already use it.
