Latest episode: Michael Kreps – Entire tax law is up for discussion

The 50th anniversary of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) is fast approaching, a law that “affects real people every day,” said Michael Kreps, partner at Groom Law and chair of the Retirement Services Group.

Kreps, a former staff member of the Senate HELP Committee on Retirement Policy, joins Brian Graff, CEO of the American Retirement Association (ARA), to discuss the Department of Labor’s (DOL) recent fiduciary setbacks, why they keep happening, and the value of incremental changes in regulatory policy.

They also note the upcoming tax policy debate in light of the expiring Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and what may or may not happen. It’s an important and timely conversation at a critical time for the retirement plan industry.
