Tennis News: Doubles Krawietz/Pütz hope to reach the final

The German Davis Cup duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz need two more wins to win their first Grand Slam title together. The women’s singles semifinals are coming up at the US Open.

Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz want to US Open make it to the doubles final. The German Davis Cup duo will face Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and the Croatian Mate Pavic in the semifinals on Thursday (local time). For Krawietz and Pütz, it would be their first time taking part in a Grand Slam final together. Krawietz had won the French Open twice with his former doubles partner Andreas Mies.

The women’s singles semifinals are also scheduled for the fourth-to-last day of the tournament. The first match will be between world number two Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus and the American Emma Navarro. The match will not begin until 7 p.m. local time (1 a.m. CEST/Friday) in Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Czech Karolina Muchova has so far qualified for the second semifinal.
