Rock’n’roll legend Elton John is in the healing process.

The “Rocket Man” singer announced on his Instagram page on Tuesday that he was “suffering from a severe eye infection which has unfortunately resulted in me having limited vision in one eye.”

“My recovery is on the mend but the process is extremely slow and it will take some time for vision to return in the affected eye,” John wrote, then thanked the “outstanding medical and nursing team and my family” who had looked after him so well over the past few weeks.

“I have spent the summer relaxing at home,” he wrote, adding that he is “pleased with the progress I have made so far in my healing and recovery.”

John did not provide further details about the nature of the infection. CNN has asked a spokesperson for John for comment.

Although John officially retires from touring in 2023 after decades of live performance, he continues to share his life with the world in an upcoming Disney+ documentary called “Elton John: Never Too Late.”

According to a press release, “Never Too Late” will be a new song from the Grammy winner and is touted as an “emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting full-circle journey” that follows John as he looks back on his 50-year career.

The film also documents the preparations for his final North American concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, recounting “the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today.”

Disney+ previously released the special “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium,” which earned John an Emmy and cemented his status as an EGOT winner.

“Elton John: Never Too Late” will be available to stream on Disney+ starting December 13th.
