NBA 2K25: The best new features of this year’s game at a glance | News, results, highlights, stats and rumors

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the gameplay of its annual release, 2K has introduced ProPLAY, which uses animations taken directly from NBA game films to provide players with the most realistic and game-accurate product possible.

The expansion promises “1,100 signature shot animations” and “over 1,300 new animations without the ball.” It also includes 150 signature moves, staying true to the players that excite fans on the pitch.

The developers have also improved the dribbling engine in this year’s version. The game’s official website states: “It goes beyond animations and turns the movement with the ball into a holistic, dynamic movement that corresponds one-to-one to the way players dribble in real life.”

Other gameplay improvements include signature shots, improved shot timing, pro-stick rhythm shooting, and a brand new defensive cutoff system, meaning the players you field at home may have stronger defensive skills than the real-life athletes they represent.

Finally, the developers have used AI to improve the difficulty of the game, with adjustments no longer based solely on shot rate.

Overall, the team at 2K has worked to provide players with the most authentic experience possible, which is something that is in high demand in today’s sports games.
