Devastating rocket attacks in Ukraine claim 50 lives and trigger mourning

According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 50 people were killed and more than 200 injured in a Russian missile attack on a military training facility and a nearby hospital in Poltava, Ukraine. The attack is one of the deadliest since the start of the war.

The rockets hit the Military Institute of Communications in Poltava and partially destroyed the building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that people were trapped under the rubble, but many were rescued. He has ordered a full investigation into the incident.

Poltava Governor Filip Pronin declared three days of mourning, calling the attack a great tragedy for the region and Ukraine. The attack came against the backdrop of increased military activity on both sides, with Ukrainian forces advancing in the Kursk region and Russian forces deepening their incursion into eastern Ukraine.
