Sachin Pilot calls for reform of Rajasthan Public Service Commission in light of rampant exam paper leaks

Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Tuesday demanded that the Rajasthan government reconstitute the state’s Public Service Commission to restore its credibility.

In a new statement, Pilot pointed to numerous arrests within the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) linked to major document scandals in recruitment exams, including the arrest of Babulal Katara and Ramuram Raika for separate offences last year.

Pilot argued that these arrests seriously undermine the credibility of the RPSC, a central constitutional institution, stressing that earlier concerns about the institution’s functioning and selection processes have now been confirmed.

The former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan mentioned that three chargesheets have already been filed against 61 accused in the paper leak case of the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021. The accused include 33 trainee sub-inspectors, selected candidates and members of the paper leak gang. The search for another 65 accused is on.

Pilot pointed out that numerous allegations of paper leaks in other examinations, including the REET, have dashed the hopes of countless unemployed youth and left their families in distress. He stressed the significant emotional and financial burden these incidents have placed on the candidates and their parents.

Recently, during the budget session of the state assembly, it was announced that Rajasthan aims to create 400,000 civil service jobs by March 2025. Pilot stressed that maintaining credibility and transparency in the upcoming recruitment exams is crucial to reassure the candidates and their families.
