Google Play Store can open apps automatically after installation

Google Play Store can open apps automatically after installation

Google has added a new feature to the Play Store that is already rolled out. When downloading an app, you can choose whether you want to open the finished app straight away. A toggle with the corresponding auto-open option appears under the install button.

If this switch is activated, the name of the install button changes to “Open automatically after installation”. And during the download, the Play Store shows the time that should elapse before the app opens automatically. It seems that the timer runs for at least five seconds so that the time to open the app is included even in very quick downloads. The new feature is available in the Play Store from version 42.5.15. There are also rumors of even more new features to come in the future. The Play Store will allow the download of up to three apps at the same time, currently the maximum is two. Another future innovation mentioned is the ability to update apps obtained via sideloading via the Play Store. (ubi)
