Hannover 96 signed Bartłomiej Wdowik, a Polish international, on deadline day. It is the left-back’s second transfer this summer.

Hannover – Hannover 96 strengthened its squad with an exciting new signing on the “deadline day” of the summer transfer window. Bartłomiej Wdowik is set to increase the options on the left side of defence. The 23-year-old made his international debut for Poland in November and surprisingly won the championship in his home country with Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Wdowik’s strong 16 points in the Polish Ekstraklasa also contributed to this, showing him to be an attacking left-back. It is obvious that Wdowik has recommended himself for a move abroad with these performances. What is strange is that Hannover 96 is his second new club within a few weeks.

Hannover’s new signing Wdowik only played one game for SC Braga

Wdowik only moved to SC Braga in Portugal at the beginning of the transfer window. However, he only made a brief appearance there as part of the Europa League qualification. Recently he was not even in Braga’s squad on several occasions. It seemed like a clear case of “confusion”, but now Hannover 96 has offered a way out. The Lower Saxony team is initially loaning Wdowik out and has secured a purchase option.

According to reports, Braga would get out of the situation in a zero-sum game if Wdowik can recommend himself for a permanent commitment at 96. The conditions seem good. In any case, those in charge are celebrating the transfer as a coup. “Bartłomiej fulfilled the profile that we had defined for the left-back position 100 percent. “We have been following his development for a long time,” said sporting director Marcus Mann in the transfer announcement about Wdowik.

“Hannover 96 is a club that every football fan in Poland knows, and our team has a lot of potential,” said Wdowik himself. His new club has started the new second division season strongly with seven points, and Stefan Leitl’s team recently managed to overcome the unrest following their DFB Cup exit against Arminia Bielefeld with a win over Hamburger SV. The next assessment of the team’s position awaited them on matchday 4 with the away match at Fortuna Düsseldorf.
