Tennis Association Class Women: Sobering conclusion for TCL reserve

The already relegated TC Lilienthal II did not lose its first point of the season on the last match day of the women’s tennis association class. However, the team led by captain Pia Sültenfuß faced a difficult task on home turf against champions TC Stelle and ultimately lost 0:6 without winning a set.

Two broken strings quickly threw Pia Sültenfuß off balance in the top singles. In addition, her opponent frequently opened up the court with well-placed serves and thus scored many free points. In second position, Lara Kubus was also physically challenged in many long rallies. Her opponent brought back an enormous amount and forced the Lilienthal player to make numerous mistakes in the end. Tabea Raeckers’ opening match was promising because she got her opponent running and thus supported her “mishits”. However, she still did not win the first set (5:7) and was too cautious afterwards.

Carlotta Jarchow had to make do with almost no first serve in her singles match. Her opponent, who was also impressive at the net, quickly played exclusively to Jarchow’s backhand, which she was unable to apply the desired pressure behind. The hosts were also far from the consolation point in the final doubles match. “Overall, our relegation was justified,” admitted Pia Sültenfuß looking back, “with the loss of Arianna Balic and Leonie Jöring, we simply had a little more unrest in the team.”
