Lowest voter turnout in Clay County on primary day 2024

In Clay County, just over 18% of voters cast their ballots in the 2024 primary, according to Elections Supervisor Chris Chambless.

This means that only a little over 28,000 of the more than 150,000 registered voters from Clay Count cast their ballots.

In a press release, Chambless expressed concern about the low voter turnout.

“Elections have consequences and consequences have repercussions. Clay County deserves better, you deserve better, our children and grandchildren deserve better, and our future depends on it,” Chambless wrote.

Chambless also noted that the approximately 460 poll workers employed by the Clay County Elections Office cost nearly $240,000. That doesn’t even include other necessary election materials, which cost another $100,000 to $150,000.
