FC Bayern in the DFB Cup against Mainz 05

Record winner FC Bayern Munich will face FSV Mainz 05 in the second round of the DFB Cup. It is one of only four Bundesliga matches, which also include Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Wolfsburg vs. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig vs. FC St. Pauli. Defending champion Bayer Leverkusen will host second division football team SV Elversberg. This was the result of the draw in Dortmund.

The Munich team will face the Rhineland team in the DFB Cup for the fourth time. FC Bayern have won the previous three matches. FC Augsburg will once again host second division team FC Schalke 04.

1. FC Nuremberg will face Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. “In a duel with a Bundesliga club, the distribution of roles is clear. We accept the role of challenger and look forward to the sporting challenge in the second round of the cup,” said sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou.

In the only pure second division duel, SSV Jahn Regensburg will host SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Only on Friday, the Upper Palatinate team lost 4-0 at home to the Franconians.

The second round matches will be played on October 29th/30th. The round of 16 will also take place this year (December 3rd/4th). The final will take place on May 24th, 2025 in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.
