The NASCAR Cup Series regular season ends on Sunday with the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

Sunday’s race is the culmination of a wild-card race for an ever-shrinking number of open playoff spots. Martin Truex Jr., Ty Gibbs, Chris Buescher, Bubba Wallace and Ross Chastain all have different paths to the same goal of making the playoffs, but there are only three playoff spots (maximum) left heading into the weekend.

Harrison Burton’s improbable win last Saturday at Daytona secured him a playoff spot, and it will be interesting to see how the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford fares when it gets more attention this fall and has a playoff run to look forward to.
