2. Bundesliga – Klose annoyed after Nuremberg’s “shitty result” – Bayern

Nuremberg (dpa/lby) – A defeat like the one against Magdeburg takes its toll on Miroslav Klose. After just one night, the 2014 world champions cannot forget such a thrashing. “It’s still a thing,” admitted the former national striker after the 0:4 (0:1) defeat against 1. FC Magdeburg in the 2nd Bundesliga. Klose’s Nuremberg team was particularly disappointing in terms of intensity and tackling in their first home defeat of the season.

“That’s a shitty result,” complained captain Robin Knoche after the poor four-point start after four match days. “Especially after a 0-2 defeat, you can’t behave like that in terms of tackling. We have a young team, but that still doesn’t work. We’ll work on that internally.”

Klose repeatedly criticizes the lack of intensity

In a one-sided duel with two subsequent decisions by the video referee, the Franconians suffered a beating after a disappointing performance against a seasoned opponent. “We were not intense enough in the transition phases,” criticized Klose, adding: “We were far too dangerous in front of goal.”

The deficit came out of nowhere. The dangerous Martijn Kaars robustly prevailed in a duel against Florian Flick, and Xavier Amaechi (24th minute) converted the cross pass with a follow-up shot against the strongly reacting Nuremberg goalkeeper Jan Reichert. The goal also stood up to a review by the video referee.

The penalty is withdrawn

In the 38th minute, Cologne’s Keller was called into action again. Nuremberg’s Julian Justvan had already set up the ball for a penalty, but the video referee overturned the alleged foul by Jean Hugonet and Lukas Schleimer.

With a clean shot from the edge of the penalty area, Livan Burcu (65th) sealed the second defeat of the season for Klose’s team, who barely put up a fight, in front of 31,581 spectators. Alexander Nollenberger (84th) with a fantastic long-range shot and Philipp Hercher (90th+2) completely brought the hosts’ mood down to earth.

“We are all disappointed”

“We lack consistency. We sometimes have relays that look good, but that is over far too short a period of time. “We have to increase the intensity,” demanded 18-year-old central defender Finn Jeltsch, who had the chance to equalize in the 54th minute after a corner. “In terms of football, we have solutions, but you need intensity, you also have to make runs for nothing,” demanded Klose. “We are all disappointed.”

The “Club” will continue its campaign on September 14th against newly promoted Ulm. Until then, his team will be demanding a lot from them in training. “That has nothing to do with professional football,” he said, criticizing the tackling behavior of his substitutes.

Klose’s captain expects the team to make progress before the restart in two weeks. “The boys have great character and are willing to learn. “I am convinced that they will do better,” explained Knoche, “otherwise I would not have come here.”
