Officials investigate rape in central London

Detectives investigating a rape in central London have released surveillance camera footage showing a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, between 9:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., a woman was walking near Tottenham Court Road tube station when she was picked up by an unknown man in a car.

She was driven through central London before the car stopped in Long Acre WC2 and the woman was raped.

She reported the incident to the police and detectives in Westminster launched an investigation.

Detective Constable Adam Ramsden, from Westminster, said: “We have been working around the clock to gather as much evidence as possible on the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.

“We are releasing this image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the investigation. He is described as a light-skinned black man with short hair and freckles.”
