Construction work has begun on a collective accommodation facility for refugees in the Münsingen industrial estate at Am Schlichtfeld 10. It will accommodate up to 100 people.

Münsing – The first prefabricated parts for the three residential containers were recently delivered. The Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district office will be the building owner and will accommodate up to 100 people in them. Andreas Baumann, head of the asylum department at the district office, explained in response to a request from our newspaper that he was “cautiously” expecting the buildings to be occupied in October or November. When a similarly large modular accommodation was moved into in Lenggries in May, an open day for the neighbors proved to be a good idea. “We opened a model room and were available to answer visitors’ questions,” says Baumann. Concerns from the population quickly arise everywhere.

Decision in the municipal council relatively clear

In the Münsingen municipal council, the decision to build the two-storey containers in lightweight construction was made relatively clearly with only two votes against. Münsing did not meet its quota of refugees to be taken in, which is why the district office insisted that the municipality either provide rooms or a piece of land itself. A private individual offered the authority the vacant space in the industrial estate for lease. The majority of the council felt that this was more suitable than a location on the sports and leisure grounds on Hartlweg, which was also under discussion.

Families should be accommodated together

As an employee of the district office reported to the local council, the buildings will be used to create apartments for six to eight people, four to six people and two people. The plan is to house families or people of the same origin together to avoid conflicts. A security service, which the Free State only provides for a certain number of residents, will be present around the clock. “A social service and experts from the district office will also have their offices in one of the containers,” announced Andreas Baumann. On the open day, they will be available to answer questions from residents alongside representatives of the municipality, the police and the fire department. “We want maximum transparency here,” said the department head.
