Champions League draw LIVE! Tough opponents for German teams

It’s about to start again: the most popular European competition. Now that the leagues have already started, the Champions League will soon be starting too. But before the top clubs, including title holder Real Madrid, play for the trophy, the games have to be drawn first.

This year everything will be different. There will be no more group draws. Instead, there will be eight different opponents, each of whom will have to compete in a new league phase. There will also be a special Champions League draw for the five German teams. It will start at 6 p.m.

5.22pm: There will also be no return matches. Instead of playing against three opponents twice as usual, each team will be drawn against eight different opponents. The respective club will only face each of the eight once.

16:01: How is the draw made? Each team has to play eight games. Four of them in their own arena and four away. The teams are divided into four pots and have to play against two teams from each pot.

3:23 p.m.: Everything is different this year. In the newly formed premier class, the draw is also new. Previously, the 32 qualified teams were divided into eight groups of four and drawn live using random balls. From this season, there will be 36 teams instead of 32. They will not compete in groups, but in a single league phase. In addition, most of the draw will be done by a computer.
