BVB, News: Sébastien Haller loaned to Leganes

A few minutes before the end of the transfer period, Borussia Dortmund has loaned center forward Sébastien Haller (30) to Spanish first division newcomers CD Leganes for one season. The Westphalian club announced this late Friday evening.

“The story that connects us with Sébastien was a special one, is a special one and will always remain a special one. Sébastien’s cancer was a profound turning point in his life and that of his family and friends. The entire BVB family stood by him during this difficult time.” “I will personally never forget the feeling of happiness of having him healthy and back among us,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl: “Now it is important for Sébastien that he plays regularly and feels the joy of celebrating a goal as often as possible.”

BVB coach Nuri Sahin said before the start of the match in Bremen Heaven: “That’s the brutality of the business. He gets on the bus with us to Bremen and then later that evening he’s gone. Of course it’s emotional because it’s about a person. He wanted to take this step, which I can absolutely understand from a sporting perspective. On a human level, his departure is a huge loss for us. I wish him and his wonderful family all the best and hope that he finds his smile again on the pitch.

Haller moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Westphalia in 2022 and was initially slowed down by testicular cancer. After his return, the Ivorian played a total of 33 Bundesliga games (nine goals) for BVB.
