Tidewater Utilities requests tariff adjustment

First tariff change request in over a decade with focus on upgrades and system stability

DOVER, Delaware, Aug. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Tidewater Utilities, Inc. (“Tidewater” or the “Company”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Middlesex Water Company (Nasdaq: MSEX), today filed an application with the Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC) for new rates to recoup prudent investments made over the past decade to support ongoing regulatory compliance and improve water quality, service reliability, safety and resilience of water utility infrastructure assets.

Since its last filing more than ten years ago, the Company has invested over $150 million in major drinking water infrastructure improvements that are not currently reflected in customer base rates. These capital expenditures include construction of new and rehabilitation of existing water treatment facilities, expansion of backup power generation, installation of interconnectors, construction of new storage facilities and other improvements.
