Hamburg Lower Saxony: HSV signs winger Sahiti and centre-back Perrin

Status: 30.08.2024 19:52

Second division football club HSV was active in the transfer market again on deadline day. As the Hamburg club announced on Friday, they have signed winger Emir Sahiti from Hajduk Split. They are also signing a central defender in Lucas Perrin.

The completion of the Sahiti transfer had dragged on in recent days, but shortly before the end of the summer transfer festivities for the Bundesliga and 2nd division on Friday, the Hamburg club was able to announce the deal. The 25-year-old increases coach Steffen Baumgart’s options on the wing. The club had previously loaned Marco Richter from 1. FSV Mainz 05 for the offensive during the week.

Sahiti, who has played twice for Kosovo’s national team, has been under contract with Hajduk since 2018 and will remain under contract until 2026. HSV did not disclose the transfer fee. Several media outlets had reported a payment of 1.5 million euros. Nothing was disclosed about the duration of the contract either.

Perrin as Vuskovic replacement

With the transfer of Perrin, Hamburg reacted to the CAS ruling against central defender Mario Vuskovic. The International Court of Arbitration for Sport increased the doping ban against the Croatian to four years on Tuesday. The 22-year-old is therefore not allowed to play football for a professional club until November 2026.

Perrin – a professional from the Olympique Marseille youth team – has been under contract in Strasbourg since 2022 and has played 94 competitive matches during this period. According to media reports, he has signed a contract in Hamburg until 2026.

While the Hamburg team’s signing of Sahiti is also a response to the injuries to Jean-Luc Dompé and Bakery Jatta and – assuming all players are fit – is well positioned in attack and on the wings (data from the Global Soccer Network (GSN), the Perrin transfer was of greater urgency. The experts rate the central defense as “somewhat thinly staffed” after the loss of Mario Vuskovic. An additional signing is necessary to ensure defensive stability and depth in the three-man defense system.”

On Sunday evening, HSV will host newly promoted Preußen Münster at the Volksparkstadion (1 p.m., in the NDR Livecenter), and the team will then be looking to keep up with the top of the second division.
