Miracle life. The men’s 30s of TV Wundersleben have become league champions, and the U10s can even become state champions. The development continues to be positive all round – with one drawback.

About two years ago we looked at Tennis club (TV) Miracle life He had joined our campaign “Strong for your club“, where sports clubs could apply with projects close to their hearts for which they need support. The Wundersleben residents wanted to build a ball wall so that they would have more opportunities to meet the ever-increasing influx of young tennis players on their facility.

They were voted in third place, received 2000 euros – and were able to build their wall. They now want to paint it. There should be a net on it, of course, but also a few mottos. One could be: With little means and a lot of passion, reach high. Because what the TV Wunderleben What he has created is a small tennis miracle.

1995 as a section at SV Wundersleben Founded in 2001 and an independent tennis club, club life did not really get going at first. Twelve years ago, the club was too old and had about 30 members, most of whom were rather inactive. Then came Stephan Menzer into the club, brought many ideas and rejuvenated it bit by bit. With the help of his deputy chairman and youth officer, Patrick Lovewho, especially during Corona, worked tirelessly to ensure that the children stayed with the group and even increased their numbers, when many clubs had great problems. Two years ago, the Wundersleben team already had 35 children, and now they have opened a fourth junior group and there are already 45, who are looked after by ten trainers.

A pitch is being converted into an all-weather pitch

This is bearing fruit. Last weekend was, without exaggeration, the most successful in the club’s history. The U10 team, which had already become national champion in the U9 but only among four teams, qualified again for the final for the national championship title with a win against Sondershausen – this time in a field of twelve participants. On September 8th, the TC Optimus Erfurt“I think the chances are very even,” says Patrick Liebe, whose daughter Stella is part of the team.

The second successful team in the club is the men’s 30s, who have been one of the top teams in the association league for years and have already won the championship. They repeated this last Saturday with a 4:2 win against Meiningen, who, like Pößneck, could have drawn level with TV with a win. But led by their top player Björn Habedankwho will soon make it into the ranking of the best German men in the 40-45 age group due to his many strong tournaments and whose son Ole in the U10 is also the guarantee of success, Wundersleben secured the title.
