Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was a rebounding machine in her first season in the WNBA and recently became the first player ever to Complete three games in a row with at least 20 reboundsNow she has her sights set on two season records.

Reese, who leads the league with 12.9 rebounds per game, matching the highest season average ever, is on pace to break the records for most offensive rebounds and most total rebounds in a season. She got closer to both records after Reese grabbed four offensive rebounds and 14 total rebounds in a 74-70 loss to the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night. As it stands, she needs seven offensive rebounds to surpass Yolanda Griffith in the first category and 17 total rebounds to pass Sylva Fowles in the second category.

If she maintains her current pace, Reese would set both records when the Sky play the Minnesota Lynx on September 1.

Total rebound record for a season

After playing for LSU and leading the Tigers to the 2023 national championship, Reese fell to No. 7 in the 2024 WNBA Draft, largely due to concerns about her offensive output. In fact, she has struggled to finish at the basket, and her shooting percentage is 38.4% this season.

However, there were no concerns about her ability to do all the little things that contribute to winning, especially rebounding. Just months into her professional career, it’s clear that Reese has what it takes to be one of the all-time players on the boards.
