Marvel celebrates 85th anniversary with heartwarming video

Marvel’s new video offers a look at Thunderbolts*, Captain America: Brave New World, and more.

Happy birthday, Marvel! In 1939, the iconic comic book company was founded by Martin Goodman under the name Timely Comics before becoming known as Atlas Comics. In 1961, the company adopted the name we know and love today: Marvel Comics. The Marvel brand began with the birth of The Fantastic Four and other iconic titles from Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and more. Now, Marvel is celebrating its 85th anniversary. In honor of this momentous occasion, Marvel Studios took to social media to share a heartwarming video celebrating the company’s major milestone. From old footage of Lee to interviews with actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this new video is sure to make any Marvel fan’s heart beat faster.

The video is a homage to comics and includes footage from upcoming film projects such as Thunderbolts* And Captain America: Brave New WorldYou can also take a look at Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, interviews with Tom Hiddleston and Angela Bassett, a nod to X-Men: The Animated Seriesand more. “Celebrating 85 years of Marvel, thanks to you, True Believers,” Marvel Studios captioned the post. Marvel’s 85th anniversary variants pay homage to classic comic book covers:

Last month, it was announced that Marvel would be celebrating its 85th anniversary with some special variant covers. They unveiled a new series of variant covers as a tribute to the original Marvel Comics (renamed Marvel Mystery Comics with issue no. 2). The homage covers form the most important issues of the Timely-published Captain America Comics, Comics of all winnersAnd Sub-Mariner comics. You can take a look at the new issues of Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man, Poison, Incredible Hulkand the newly released X-Men.

“Across five covers, some of today’s hottest artists – Elizabeth Torque, David Yardin, Paco Medina, Joelle Jones and Jan Bazaldua – reinterpret artwork by industry pioneers in special tributes. Featuring both classic characters and contemporary stars, these new pieces put a modern twist on iconic covers from the earliest days of Marvel Comics, including the pop-culture groundbreaking MARVEL COMICS #1 from 1939,” Marvel.com shared.
