NOPD continues to seek information in ongoing murder investigation

New Orleans Police Department Homicide Detectives continue to seek information in their investigation into a homicide reported on April 19 in the 15,000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

On April 19, an unresponsive adult male was found in a vacant area in the 15000 block of Chef Menteur Highway. New Orleans EMS confirmed the victim’s death and the incident was initially classified as an unspecified death. After further investigation and an autopsy, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim on April 23 as 34-year-old Chad Verret and determined the cause of death was gunshot wounds. Verret had been reported missing prior to his discovery.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and information as part of their investigation into this incident, including the search for the perpetrator(s). No further details are available at this time regarding this investigation.
