Man charged in North Memphis shooting; MPD finds evidence linking suspect to lounge shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A man is accused of recklessly shooting and wounding a woman in North Memphis on May 30.

Javarious Douglas is charged with reckless endangerment by discharging a firearm, two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon.

According to the affidavit, the shell casings found in the North Memphis shooting match the ballistics evidence recovered from the Aug. 4 Focuz Lounge shooting.

In late May, officers responded to a shooting around 9 p.m. on Greenlaw Avenue and Waldron Boulevard.

A woman with a gunshot wound was at the scene.

She told police that she and her husband were walking their dog near the intersection of Faxon Avenue and Greenlaw Avenue when two men began shooting at each other.

As the couple tried to get home, the men started shooting at them and they got stuck.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition, her husband was unharmed.

During the shooting, a house was hit several times, but no one inside was injured.

The officers found about 70 empty cartridge cases on site.
