PS5 Pro console design leaked – official unveiling “coming soon”

A reliable leaker has posted hand-drawn images of what the The way the PS5 Pro looks is further confirmation that it will be released this year.

The PS5 Pro has been an open secret for over a year, but unusually, no photos of it have leaked and Sony still hasn’t admitted its existence – or bothered to deny the rumors.

However, the highly reliable leaker billbil-kun claims to have seen the retail packaging of the new console, which means that it Is will be released this year and will be officially announced in the first half of September.

Since they don’t want to get sued, they didn’t post any photos of the console, but instead hand-drawn what the console looks like… and it looks a lot like the existing PS5 Slim.

Unlike other leakers, billbil-kun is basically never wrong, as the information comes from retailers and not developers and is usually relatively dry stuff about release dates, box art and the like.

That’s essentially the point, as they only claim to have seen the console’s packaging, not the machine itself.

However, they do state that the reveal will happen in the next few weeks. This lines up with rumors from multiple sources that there will be a Sony State of Play event in September – which is something we also heard from developers at Gamescom.

The design of the PS5 Pro is not particularly surprising, except perhaps the fact that it is still white, as redesigns sometimes prefer to change the color.

Although it looks similar to the PS5 Slim, it is not identical as there are three black stripes on the outside of the case.

The PS5 Pro is said to be slightly thicker than the Slim model, but faceplates are expected to be compatible, which is probably why Sony hasn’t changed the design much – even though it’s generally not very popular with fans.

The DualSense controller that comes with the PS5 Pro is reportedly unchanged, but billbil-kun doesn’t know if the PS5 Pro will come with a disc drive.

There may be two models, one with and one without, but the version they saw did not have a drive, no doubt to keep costs down.

The biggest question about the PS5 Pro is its price, but billbil-kun isn’t giving any information on that. He also has nothing to add on the various leaked specs, but that’s not really something he normally deals with.

What the console looks like is ultimately not that important, but the confirmation that a reveal is imminent and a 2024 launch is certainly important.
