Mercedes Mone “sensed some crowd fatigue” during Britt Baker match at AEW All In

Mercedes Mone has spoken out about her AEW All Ij match against Britt Baker, noting that she sensed “some crowd fatigue” during the encounter.

In the latest edition of her digital magazine Mone Mag, Mone mentioned the challenges involved in getting an audience reaction in a stadium and that the length of the show may lead to some audience fatigue.

Mone wrote:

I’ve performed in stadiums before, so I expected to hear mixed reactions from the crowd. In a stadium ring, it takes a while to hear the crowd’s reaction. You have to wait for the sound to go all the way up and then come back down. You have to take that into account to mentally prepare and adjust, but it’s definitely a factor.

Mone continued, pointing out the balance between a tired crowd and offering fans their money’s worth:

“I heard a lot of mixed reactions to my All In match with Britt. I had a really good time out there with her. I sensed some crowd fatigue. It’s only natural to be third to last since the crowd had already seen over 10 matches before ours. They arrived at 5:30 and by the time we came out it was about 9:00. That’s a long time but amazing at the same time because AEW really gave them something. I could hear some chants from DMD and CEO but it’s harder in a stadium. Britt told me later that on video you can hear the crowd reaction much better and that there was more crowd reaction than we felt.”

Mone also talked about her all-in entrance outfit, noting that she spent $10,000 of her own money on her gear, the most she has ever spent in her career:

“My robe, which was so beautiful, magnificent and majestic, was also my most expensive in my 14 years as a wrestler. The entire outfit cost me over $10,000 (no pun intended).”

“For wrestlers to invest so much money in their clothing really depends on where they are in their career. When you’re not at the top of the salary scale, you try to find cheaper ways to look your best and that’s definitely possible. I’ve done it. At the biggest events, you invest everything you can. Those stages are huge and those moments last forever, so you want to look your best. It’s not always about the money. It’s about putting in the time, being creative and resourceful. That raises standards and builds character. I think it’s all worth it and it pays off in the end. I hope I can give some of the younger girls on our roster that feeling.”
