Woman and man killed in shooting outside Sterling office building – NBC4 Washington

A woman and a man, both in their early 20s, were shot outside an office complex in Sterling, Virginia, early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Someone shot the victims around 4:30 a.m. in a rear parking lot near an office building in the 21,000 block of Ridgetop Circle, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said.

The victims were identified as Mijal Conejero-Romera, 22, of Sterling, and Diego Alexander Woollett, 22, of Arlington.

Before the shooting, an argument broke out in an apartment complex next to the office parking lot, Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said. Emergency crews responding to 911 calls found the victims near a fence that separates the office parking lot from the apartment building.

The victims died a short time later in the hospital.

The shooter is still at large.

“From everything we’re seeing so far, it appears to be a targeted use of firearms. But it concerns me that the person who committed this crime is still at large. So we need the public’s help in determining the actual identity of this person. Then we can track them down and make sure we lock them up and put them behind bars,” Chapman said.

Later Wednesday morning, investigators could be seen examining the crime scene and marking evidence near a dumpster.

Chapman said one of the shooting victims lived in the apartment complex.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to call Detective Grimsley at 703-777-1021.
