Juan Laws is accused of shooting Huntsville police officer Garrett Crumby

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – One of the attorneys for the man accused of shooting Huntsville police Officer Garrett Crumby has requested that he withdraw from the case.

Juan Laws is currently charged with murder for shooting Huntsville Police Officer Garrett Crumby in March 2023. He is also accused of shooting and wounding Officer Albert Morin.

Court records show that one of Laws’ attorneys, Bruce Gardner, filed a motion to withdraw from the case after Laws wrote a letter directly to the judge.

In this letter, Laws stated that he was trying to have his case transferred from district court to federal court.

The hearing is scheduled for September 3. Laws remains in the Madison County Jail without bail.
