Dana White makes important announcements about Conor McGregor’s UFC return

UFC President Dana White hinted at an important announcement regarding Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the Octagon.

McGregor, who has been out of action since suffering a serious leg injury in his match against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, was originally scheduled to make his comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 earlier this summerHowever, that plan was thwarted when McGregor pulled out of the fight due to a toe injury, putting his return on hold indefinitely.

Despite this setback, McGregor has continued to be vocal about his desire to return to the cage, most recently expressing interest in fighting at UFC 310, which is scheduled for December 7, 2024. However, White insisted that McGregor’s return is contingent on his medical clearance. The two sides briefly discussed McGregor’s return at a motorcycle event in Sturgis, South Dakota, but no concrete details emerged from that meeting.

UFC CEO suggests Conor could return this year

During an Instagram Live session primarily dedicated to promoting the “Road to the Title” power slap show, White hinted that news on McGregor’s return was “coming soon,” leading to widespread speculation among fans and analysts alike.

White mentions possible updates for other fighters such as Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway The speculation was further fueled, especially since Holloway is scheduled to challenge for the featherweight title against Ilia Topuria in October.

McGregor’s potential return has been the subject of heated debate, especially after White previously stated that he did not believe McGregor would fight in 2024. However, in a surprising turn of events, White revealed in a recent interview that McGregor had insisted on returning before the end of the year.

White, while cautious, left the door open for a possible December return, noting that while nothing has been confirmed, if everything goes well, a McGregor fight could still happen this year.

McGregor’s last win dates back to his 40-second knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January 2020. Since then, he has faced a number of challenges both inside and outside the Octagon, with his current form showing a string of losses in three of his last four fights.

While fans eagerly await the official announcement, speculation continues to swirl about a possible showdown between McGregor and Chandler, which could be the focus of a major UFC event later this year.

Right now, all eyes are on Dana White as the MMA community prepares for what could be one of the biggest announcements of the year.
