Future update on WWE Five Match Premium Live Event

WWE

There was an update on WWE’s plans to continue offering five match cards for premium live events despite fan frustration.

In the Triple H era of WWE’s premium live events, the number of matches at non-WrestleMania or SummerSlam events has been reduced and appears to be limited to just five matches.

Fans have reacted to this change in different ways. Some feel that it gives the matches more time to prove themselves, while others feel that five matches is too few for a top-notch live event.

In an update on the future of Fightful Select’s smaller PLE cards (subscription required), the shorter cards are expected to continue and WWE is pleased with the development.

When asked about the reasoning behind the shorter cards, Fightful was told that the format worked for them and that it also helps the company stack both Raw and SmackDown.

WWE points out that stacking Raw and SmackDown made sense, especially when SmackDown was in the same city as the PLE the next night.

This weekend’s WWE Bash In Berlin event is expected to feature five matches.
